Natural New Zealand

New Zealand is such a beautiful place to see nature in every form. Whether it be trenched in snow, ravished in rain, or beaming with sunshine, it is a trip that is needed. You will leave with so much more than you could ever imagine.

One amazing piece of scenery to visit is the Waitomo Caves. These caves were made over 30 million years ago. These caves are located on the North Island of New Zealand. The name, Waitomo, means water passing through a hole. Seems fitting, right? There are four amazing caves located in this attraction. Whether you want to see the glow worms in the Waitomo Glowworm Cave, visit history in the Ruakuri Cave, see some beautiful designs in the Aranui Cave, or see some beautiful nature in the Gardner’s Gut Cave, there are plenty of things to see for everyone. The most popular activity is the black water rafting through the Waitomo Glowworm Cave.

Another stunning piece of nature’s art is the Hamilton Gardens. This amazing attraction was opened July 24, 1960. It has 21 themed garden areas. Each garden explores history and culture from a number of gardens throughout the world. One of the most well-known gardens is the Bussaco Woodland Garden. This specific garden re-creates a woodland that is in Portugal. It was established in 1628 and was used as a private retreat area. Another memorable garden is the Tropical Garden. This garden incorporates over 200 species of flowers and plants from both Australia and Asia. There are over 8,000 tropical plants in this majestic garden alone.

If you want to take a step away and really enjoy nature for all that it is worth however, one of the best places to visit is the Tongariro National Park. This is New Zealand’s oldest national park. It was established in October of 1887 and is over 307.3 square miles long. It is home to three of the “mightiest” mountains in New Zealand; MT. Ruapehu, MT. Tongariro, and MT. Auruhoe. There are a handful of activities that you can do on each of these mountains. You can hike through mountains and valleys, stopping along the way to take some breathtaking pictures. You can ski down the powder white mountain sides, or even bike through the multitude of trails. One of the most popular places to hike is the Tongariro Crossing. This crossing is especially exquisite due to the emerald lakes in the meadow that are just so beautiful to have a picnic by and even more perfect for pictures! Just be sure not to drink or swim in these lakes due to the minerals in them!

Overall, New Zealand is always full of new adventures. Be sure not to miss out on seeing this amazing place yourself!
